WULONG RESIDENCY-BASED ART COMMUNITY CENTRE
Wulong art community centre is a residency-based venue for artists from around the world. The community centre encourages the production of new work for artists and supports new connections and workshop experiences. The artists can take part in residencies, present their work at the art gallery, and engage with local people or other tourists at the restaurant, bar, or other outdoor recreational spaces. The residents' private studios are fully enclosed to bring a feeling of protection and solitude from the outside environment while still providing a connection to the landscape through a strategically framed view of the stunning surrounding.
Combining contemporary art, local Chinese cuisine with special architecture, the residency-based art community centre is a building that is uniquely established in the Wulong community. The idea behind the design is to create a modern high-quality rural life with natural scenery and primitive culture at its core. To maintain the simple sense in the Chinese residences of Wulong Village, materials are selected carefully, and traditional elements are modernly interpreted. The residency-based art community centre is strategically designed to integrate with nature, and it is dedicated to improving social, cultural and economic factors in Wulong Village, Kunming.
