The core of Two Thirds (or Bekkie’s story) is memory and how it functions. Living memory is flexible and impermanent, yet it’s in these memories and stories that we are created as individuals and form personal connections. Two Thirds is an animated short film that explores these messy and fun complexities. It uses mixed media and a playful aesthetic to animate a tongue-in-cheek investigative interview with my parents, as they candidly recount their crazy journey to the hospital on the day my sister was born. Two Thirds shows, with the contrast of their accounts and a little fact checking at the end, how memory isn’t a clear picture but is instead living and changing along with us.
