During her placement year, Emily worked within a local high school, gaining valuable skills within leadership, design and communication within the classroom. Due to her own experiences and key interest into chronic illnesses, her final major project was centred around Cystic Fibrosis, delving into treatment adherence and the burden this condition poses on patient’s day to day lives. Her final project is a nebuliser steam steriliser named ‘Pod’ and is designed for those living with Cystic Fibrosis and other medical conditions. ‘Pod’ enables users to reduce the growth of harmful bacteria within airway clearance devices and encourages good treatment adherence. In the coming months, Emily is due to embark on her postgraduate studies for a PGCE in Design and Technology. She is eager to continue to develop and demonstrate the valuable skills and knowledge she has gained throughout her time at university.
