Product Design BA/BSc (Hons)

Holly is a recent BA (Hons) Product Design graduate from the University of Huddersfield. Holly gained valuable industry experience through her placement year as a Product Design Assistant at Global One-Pak Ltd. Global One-Pak specialises in the supply of toiletry products, both in the UK and overseas. Through placement Holly worked on customer specifications and technical drawings, along with learning software’s such as Fusion 360 and Sage. Throughout her final year Holly carried out and analyses user research and used this to develop initial concepts and throughout developments into her final design. Her research focused on issues wheelchair users have within the kitchen, specifically the issues some users have using a standard kettle. As a designer Holly is CAD focused and especially enjoys the final stages of presenting her work through in context 3D renders, Photoshop manipulations and animation work. Software’s that she is proficient in using for this include Solidworks, KeyShot, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Holly’s final project is a two-part electric kettle and tipper unit designed to allow wheelchair users to pour boiling water from the kettle without lifting the kettle from the base. Reducing the risk of burn injuries and increasing the user’s independence.
