An imposter. A façade. A recognised entity that is not all that it seems, something new but something old all at once. A reimagining of past forms, development of historical methods of creation and design, reconsidered to take on a life force of its own. A new sense of being inspired by something that has been before.
This is the embodiment of my practice, it is a revival, a celebration of the past.
The architecture throughout Huddersfield, and the stained-glass windows of Cathedrals and secular buildings, all inspire my work. This begins with a pen and paper before exploring more technological ways of working to gain a physical structure. Once formed, a sense of luminescence is achieved by portraying the building’s illustrated features using light and colour.
