Contemporary Art and Illustration BA(Hons)

My artwork is about, hapticity: hapticity being ways of communicating using touch rather than words and the importance of using hands to make.

I grew up in the desert lands of Yemen which is why I sometimes think in Arabic and why I create with the Arabic words and letters. In my installation Touch, don’t look, I have shaped letters into the sand using my hands. Through moulding Arabic words with my hands into the sand, the material holds an index of marks of my own handiwork.
