The focus of this project was ultimately about abstract painting and how the act of painting is perceived. My paintings express abstract qualities such as colour, mark-making, textures and gestural movement. The act of painting is how I achieved my end product, allowing the process of painting to be in control of my work. Creating colourful, bold abstract forms was my goal, allowing textures of acrylic paint to build up in layers, and marks to form from hog brushes or the merging of colours. All the paintings are titled 'Unknown', therefore allowing my audience to name the paintings themselves. This allows the viewer to create a personal meaning for the painting, ultimately making it their own. What do you see within each piece? Make connections with the abstract paintings!
