Costume with Textiles BA(Hons)

The Court of Mist and Fury bases its story on the protagonists' broken soul, the female protagonist's shattered heart begins to heal with help from the people around her. Within my final major project, I chose to represent my characters with the influences of Egyptian culture and mythology to further enhance their personalities. My passion is within digital character illustrations and textile creation, making elaborate elements to a more extensive character costume. During my placement with Fabrication; I helped to create textile components for the characters within the CBBC Christmas production of Hansel and Gretel. Making themed elements to the characters like; leaves for Willow, mushrooms, and fungi for Truffle, helping to make the skirt for the Witches costume, and many more components. I love digital character designing, creating the appearance of individual characters displaying the character’s personality as well as physical traits; taking inspiration from the script to communicate the characters’ nature through the artwork of facial expressions and physical poses. This course has taught me a lot, nurtured my skills, and opened my eyes to new techniques. My placements have given me glimpses into the industry and put my skills to use, and look forward to new experiences in the future.
