For my FMP, I wanted to create a platform that supports young women, improving their sense of self-worth and creates a feeling of female empowerment. Primary research highlighted that many women, and some men between the ages of 16-45, believe that supporting young women to improve their autonomy and self-belief is crucial, and despite the new surge of female empowerment publications, and re-framing of what it means to be a woman today in the media, the respondents believed that there was still a gap in the market for a product such as She. As the concept developed, changes were made such as creating a website instead of an app, due to the time limitations of the project. Also, rather than creating pop-ups prior to launch, a launch event was instead created, to emphasise all aspects of the hub, not just the shop section. On reflection, creating She. was thoroughly enjoyable, but at times, challenging. Despite times of difficulty, I had an unrelenting momentum to give everything to the hub, due to the strong affinity I have with the mission of She.: to enable young women’s belief to grow as they do, producing young women with greater independence, autonomy and self-belief.
