Megan Long
Fashion Creative Direction BA(Hons)
‘Creative Director with a creative direction’ I am a 2022 Fashion Creative Direction Graduate, studying over the past three years at the University of Huddersfield. My dissertation enabled me to discuss my aptitude for styling in an analytical way. Creating a topic to discuss at length was an easy decision. Films with a focus on New York have always been of great interest to me. Therefore, writing about the costuming and styling decisions of costume designers working with three of my favourite directors Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese and Nora Ephron came to me naturally. Some would say it was an excuse to watch my favourite films again and again but of course I would the case that it was hard work and dedication (wait for laugh). I have headed up the creation of magazines for multiple projects and therefore chose to create a new publication for my Final Major Project as it is an area in which I have experience. Planning shoots, creating mood boards and styling models, writing articles and creating distinctive and recognisable aesthetics for a magazine is where my enthusiasm lies. Knowing where my strengths and my interests lie, I aim to begin a career as a stylist and creative director. My dream is that my work is featured in film, TV and fashion publications in the future. With what I have learnt through my time studying Fashion Creative Direction at the University of Huddersfield I have gained even more enthusiasm to further engage in the creative fashion industry.
