Fashion Creative Direction BA(Hons)
I have taken an interest in curating visual narratives through fashion all my life. Using images, visuals, and design elements to convey a meaningful and impactful storyline that resonates with audiences on an emotional and intellectual level has always fascinated me. My time on the Fashion Creative Direction course at the University of Huddersfield has developed this passion into conveying complex concepts, evoking emotions, creating a sense of atmosphere or mood, and communicating a brand’s values or message. It has introduced me to a plethora of different aspects of the fashion industry, allowed me to experience each one, and has ultimately helped me pinpoint the career I would like to pursue upon graduation. Doing a year in industry placement allowed me to put all my knowledge into practice. I was exposed to the inter-workings of a fashion business and got to participate in the concept development of campaigns, the preparation and execution of photographic shoots, and the design of advertisements for print and web. Coming back to final year with insight into what direction of visual communication the industry is heading towards, I researched branding for luxury within my dissertation and discovered that brands are redesigning core elements of their visual identity with the possibility of animation in mind. This motivated my decision to produce a campaign featuring 3D renders as a part of my Final Major Project, along with brand guidelines and a store design concept for a new fashion brand. Combining my strengths in graphic design, animation, and visual storytelling, I hope to go into a career that encompasses creative project management, from concept development to execution. *Please note all brands used within my work are part of university projects and are in no way linked to the existing companies.
