The ABEOKUTA capsule collection is inspired by the authentic handmade Adire fabrics made in Abeokuta, a city in southwest of Nigeria. The collections are named after the city which is famous for its artisan tie/dye fabrics, Kampala, batik candle wax designs and many richer vibrant colorful African prints. The collection is to celebrate all things Africanis, the fabulous bogus styles, the richness of the African cultural values and to celebrate African people wherever they are in the world. The collection is designed to encourage Africans living in diaspora to wear authentic handmade fabrics made into contemporary styles making them feel more connected to their roots. Also, friends of Africa can wear contemporary designs made from African prints, Adire tie and dye, Aso-oke hand woven fabrics. The fabrics used in these collections are ethically and sustainably source, the process of producing the Adire fabrics promotes sustainability and cultural preservations. The fabrics are identified with African ethnicity and heritage, although the African print(wax) is mostly made in China and Holland, they are made for Africans and sold into the Africa market. ABEOKUTA S/S 23/24 CAPSULE COLLECTIONS is spring summer wear comprising of summer jackets, evening, prom, trapeze A-line dresses and office wear.
