Emily Seabright
Fashion Design with Marketing and Production BA(Hons)
I am a recent Fashion Design with Marketing graduate from the University of Huddersfield. My final major project was inspired by how nature can help improve your well-being. I have really enjoyed having the freedom to be fully creative this year with the concept and design of my collection. Incorporating crochet in my collection has been a great opportunity to learn a new skill, and crocheting the garments myself has helped me relax during stressful times this year. My research into how exercise benefits well-being inspired me to spend more time outdoors, walking in nature to relax my mind. I am very proud of my collection and the many skills I have gained through my years at university, from creating mood/concept boards, hand-sketching, using Adobe programs for CAD, as well as my sewing skills, which have improved this year with using hard-to-work-with stretch materials. I have enjoyed creating a brand that resonates with my values, promoting positive well-being, working with mental health charities, and prioritising sustainability. It has been interesting to branch out into different areas this year. Photographing my own collection for marketing and participating in the professional photoshoot and fashion film has been a rewarding experience.
