My womenswear collection is a contemporary interpretation of women’s eveningwear; one that juxtaposes a traditional eveningwear silhouette with aspects influenced by grunge. I have taken silhouette and surface embellishment inspiration from the rare Tetraodontidae, or, more commonly named, Pufferfish. Hand-embroidery techniques mimic the rhythm of the sea, using a combination of multi-coloured and plain-coloured threads. Fabrics, incluing silk linings, jacquard wools, a midnight-blue taffeta, and tulle in varying shades of blue, are all deadstock, and have been locally sourced in my Yorkshire hometown.
My career intention is to secure a role in garment technology, in womenswear and/or childrenswear.
