'Twenty-Two' is a uni-gender collection that defies the boundaries of aesthetic and fit which have been so synonymous with the fashion industry - the idea being that this cohesive range of trans-seasonal clothing is not restricted by the typical conforms of high-fashion. Initially inspired by the street art that decorates the city of Manchester, it is a juxtaposition of structured and free flowing silhouettes. The six-outfit line-up which consists of 22 pieces, in homage to the 22 people who lost their lives in the Manchester Arena Attack at the Ariana Grande concert on the 22nd of May 2017. This formed a major part of the branding and name of the collection too as there are 22 garments, 22 victims and it is a trans-seasonal 2022 collection. Each bee/garment will represent one of the lives lost, as the bee really became synonymous with this event and became a sign of unity and solidarity in the aftermath of the attack. The messages created through the street art shaped my work, as well as informing the direction of my collection, slogans such as “there is NO PLANET B” placed sustainability at the forefront of my concept.
