It is 2020, women shouldn’t feel ashamed of natural bodily functions! Women on average spend 3000 days of their lifetime menstruating, so you’d think it would be a normal conversation topic, but the conversation is still burdened with shame and embarrassment. The Menstruation Conversation is a collection of zines that explore individual women’s moments, mishaps or memories with their periods. The purpose of The Menstruation Conversation is to foster an open environment where people discuss their periods and fight the stigma of menstruation. This is important because the silence around periods has a serious consequence on physical, sexual and mental health. By bringing it into our everyday conversations with The Menstruation Conversation, we can help make menstruation a normal topic of conversation, regardless of gender.
