I am a Digital Artist who specialises in Wildlife and Concept Art. All of my current artwork is created using Procreate on an iPad Pro. These pieces show the Concept Art which I produced for my final project, which was based on the video game; The Last of Us. The Last of Us (2013) is an action-adventure survival game, developed by Naughty Dog. Within the game, players make a journey across a post-apocalyptic United States where nature has reclaimed the land after a fungal infection mutates a large percentage of the human population. I wanted to show a similar journey within my project, but based in Europe instead of the USA. Essentially, I wanted to show how iconic European landmarks would look during an apocalypse. The Journey which I based my concept art on begins in England, following onto France and ending in Italy. One of my main aims was to show that life can still go on in a post-apocalyptic world as nature reclaims the land. The Last of Us introduced the idea of the apocalypse to be a ‘‘beautiful event” which offers a bittersweet impression that the ‘end of the world’ does not necessarily convey a negative outcome.
