Where We Left Off

This work explores the relationship between two siblings, specifically the disruption it endured and the rebuild that it then subsequently went through. A change occurred for one sibling when they expressed they were transgender, which of course was a huge shift on the family dynamic, especially for the brother and sister.

“Where We Left Off” follows on from a previous body of work “Jay & I” which was focussed on the individual’s journey with coming out. This work however looks more at the complexity of trust within relationships and the impact a life changing event can have on those involved.

The use of black and white photography enhances the texture within the photographs holding the focus to the shapes created by the subject. These shapes are significant and correlate with the foundations of the project being about transition and change which continually takes a new form as it continues to change.
