I am a textile designer specialising in commercial, knit design. Inspiration for my work comes from my surroundings: architecture, nature and the environment. The key focus of my work is sustainability and how to raise awareness by using art as a medium. I have a passion for knitting and a love of being able to see a design and product come to life in front of me.
My FMP project, ‘Hooked’, was inspired by research into fishing gear left behind in the oceans, due to overfishing. Photography taken specifically for this project, in Addu Atoll (Maldives), captures the surprising beauty of the negative effects and was the influence for the textured Spring/Summer 2021 knit samples.
