Textiles BA/BSc(Hons)

Our Textile graduates belong to a strong and noble tradition that made Huddersfield famous for Textiles the world over. They delight in the transformative power of design, the communicative capabilities of cloth, the sensuous tactility of fabric and the arresting intricacy of pattern. They have produced collections you could wear, or have adorning your home, there are designs that are functional, pieces for contemplation, as well as concepts that demand interaction.

These works have emerged from the world of Textiles, yet our students may also present themselves as Surface Designers, Textile Artists, Craft Practitioners or Textile Designers. They have taken tools used by countless craftsmen before them, and have honed their skills through hours of exploratory and innovative practice-led research to produce collections that are diverse and astounding. These projects show the tremendous power that Textiles has to shape and transform the world of Fashion, Interiors, Design and Craft.

As Knitters, Weavers, Printers and Embroiders our students have demonstrated how an education in Textiles can be the springboard to success. Their hard work, tenacity and creative skill has prepared them for the many career opportunities that the Textile, Surface Design and Craft industries have to offer.

So, may we present selected highlights of their final collections. As you browse the work gathered here I hope you will agree that this cohort have in abundance the skills to place them on the right track. They are at the beginning of their journey. Their enthusiasm and positivity will guide them; a bright future awaits.
