This project started from snow. From there I developed a concept of ephemerality and change, as change is a constant in everything. These ideas are translated through the construction of random homemade machines from an array of materials using ice in both machine and the knits themselves. The knitted samples highlight change through the changing of yarns by varying the weight in the knits and changing the stitch sizes with contrasting areas of condensed knit alongside loose and open stitches. The processes behind making these fabrics are essential to understanding the concept and ideas behind them as each machine used and each material made are unique. The process constantly changes, as well as the outcome.
