As a Fashion Marketing student my time at the University of Huddersfield has allowed me the time and experience to really understand where my passions and skills lie, and thereby the career path I want to take. I choose the option of a placement year and despite the arrival of Covid I found the year to be invaluable in terms of really understanding the industry and the valuable connections I made along the way. I was fortunate to be able to work an office- based internship with both the Coach press office and the PR Agency SANE in London.
Alongside my final year university projects, I was able to take on freelance PR and social media work, gaining articles in publications such as Vogue, Highsnobiety and Hypebeast for brands such as ‘Picante’. This work in-hand with my internship, has allowed me to clearly develop the route within the industry I hope to pursue. My final major project is based around my own brand ‘Cellar’, re-positioning the brand as a 360 marketing ecosystem, culminating in a new fashion and lifestyle magazine aimed at the UK fashion, streetwear, and lifestyle market. The magazine is also published in print to reflect the design ethos of the brand. In turn there will be an online space which only readers of the magazine can access allowing for limited releases of own brand and collaborated products. After graduating I plan to further my career within fashion PR, with the hope of going back to London – where it all began.
