Graphic Design MA

Drawing upon my work experience in a training school, where I taught students painting, my final major project focuses upon the possibility of teaching colour theory to older children and teenagers (8-14years). I wanted to share aspects of Chinese culture with these young people, which would encourage them to observe the world around them, and improve the level of realism in their studies. Through studying Graphic Design at the University of Huddersfield, I have discovered a passion for illustration. The works I have chosen are selected from my colour theory book of graphic illustrations. They focus upon Chinese plants, flowers, animals, birds and cultural heritage. Each illustration is contextualized in the book with a short, bi-lingual typographic description. The illustrations were drawn from real life and showcase how colours can work in harmony. Some of the drawings have evolved into repeat patterns to help stimulate and motivate students design thinking, whilst others have been left partially coloured to allow students to experiment and follow their own inspiration.
